RESPONSIBILITIES: The Editor assists in all phases of a project with primary emphasis on writing and editing manuscripts and/or ancillaries, and researching and evaluating song material. With supervision, coordinates with Art and Design, Production, and other departments from manuscript stage to bound book. May oversee work of freelancers and/or development houses. Provides constructive feedback when needed, and formulates solutions to schedule and quality problems. Prepares accurate status reports on a regular basis. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a related field required, Master's degree preferred. Minimum 3 years experience in curriculum development or the development of instructional materials. Must be knowledgeable regarding educational methodologies and instructional design. Strong organization, time-management, and communication skills required. Proficiency using computers and software programs required, including FileMaker Pro, MS Word, Excel, and Power Point. Proficiency with Finale software preferred. Proficiency required with music reading and notational skills, with related ability to become quickly familiar with house style. Must have basic ability to transcribe audio into print notation and ability to proof recorded audio and corresponding notation. Good verbal and written communication skills required. Classroom teaching experience preferred. Familiarity with Orff and Kodály pedagogy preferred.
