Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, a division of McGraw-Hill Education, has an opening for an Editor for 6-12 Health in Woodland Hills, CA to work on a contractual basis. Responsibilities: Assist in the planning and development of instructional materials, such as textbooks, workbooks, and other print and electronic ancillary materials programs. Develop and edit manuscript for content, accuracy, reading level, grammar, style, and length. Identify problem areas in content and recommend solutions. Assist in the development of project schedules, and maintain and meet all intermediate and final schedules; inform project editor or editorial manager if circumstances prevent meeting deadlines. Coordinate and oversee the work of outside freelancers or vendors to provide supplemental editorial assistance. Work closely with marketing, production, design, and manufacturing to ensure that market requirements, project schedules, and goals are met. Must be detail oriented and able to edit a variety of materials in a timely manner. Communicate with fellow team members about project progress, and develop solutions to address issues. Work as a team player to meet all intermediate and final schedules. Requirements: Bachelor's degree. A minimum of three years of editorial experience. Ability to demonstrate outstanding communication skills which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing and grammar. Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and help manage multiple projects. Organizational and time management proficiencies are also a must. Proficiency in Microsoft Word. Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment. Desired: Content knowledge (through education or work experience). Two or more years of classroom teaching experience.
