Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate has excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and can perform work with careful attention to detail. He or she has the desire and ability to work and communicate successfully with a wide variety of people across countries, cultures, and disciplines. He or she should be extremely well organized, and prepared to provide administrative support on a large number of book projects. It is necessary that our interns be proficient in the use of MS Office, and be comfortable conducting online research. A demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in publishing is a real plus.  This is an excellent opportunity to break into the field of publishing, but also to gain valuable experience for any career. 

 

Job Description:

Interns will be expected to provide support to Assistant Editors in the Books Editorial Department and, in this capacity, to assume many of the responsibilities of an Editorial Assistant.  With training and direction from assistant editors, interns will be responsible for corresponding with scholars in the field, preparing manuscripts for review and cast off, drafting contracts, arranging for contributor and reviewer payments, reviewing proofs, and performing market research.  The intern will work with editorial, marketing and production colleagues within their subject team, and will have the opportunity to see the process a book goes through from the initial proposal to the final product.  Wiley-Blackwell will foster the professional development of interns who participate in this program by offering new learning opportunities including skills training, informal mentoring, and a series of in-house seminars showcasing potential career paths in publishing.
