Editorial Director / Editor-in-Chief, Online

CXO Media, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Editorial Director / Editor-in-Chief, Online to be responsible for the editorial strategy and execution of our award winning online property, CIO.com. The Online Editorial Director will be responsible for the continued dynamic growth of this enterprise IT site. This position will work closely with the Online VP & GM and other key executives on the growth strategy for all kinds of content; editorial, user generated, vendor and partner content. This will include community initiatives, rich media, and new editorial strategy. This individual will manage a team of editors and collaborate with the print EIC. Managing the online editorial team, the director will play a principal role in the daily publishing of online content and be responsible for assigning and editing original content. The Director will also establish content relationships with outside partners and within IDG. The successful candidate will be able to generate a consistent flow of strong news and feature ideas, community content, build a stable of dependable freelancers, juggle staff and freelance assignments, write compelling headlines and summaries, cooperate with colleagues when subject areas overlap, pull together daily e-mail newsletters, pitch in writing articles and creating webcasts when needed, and work well under deadline pressure. Strong SEO skills a must. This position will require an ability to lead and manage change using strong management and communication skills. Qualified candidates will have management experience, five or more years of professional writing, editing, and content production experience; an established track record of building large online audiences and an aptitude for learning new software and technologies. Bachelors degree in Journalism and extensive online editorial experience are required. Candidates should also have experience with analytic and content management and traffic measurement tools, knowledge of XML, XHTML, CSS, is desirable.
