Position Description:

The enterprise applications administrator position will be responsible for the support, and administration of key business-critical applications in a 24/7/365 environment. This position is operational with a primary focus being on the applications availability, performance, how the application relates to other software on the system and in the environment, configuration management, monitoring, and client experience. The position will entail troubleshooting across many layers of the network, database if applicable, and applications pulling together many groups to assist in issue resolution. The position will work with different teams to design and test the different applications. The environment is fast paced and challenging. The ideal candidate will have a strong willingness to take on new challenges and will welcome the opportunity to gain deep proficiency with the supported technologies and application domains. He or She must be able to correlate issues to the lowest common denominator to solve problems quickly and completely.

Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities • Perform day-to-day high level application administration to include: install/configure application and or agents, set up users, performance tune, upgrade, patch, reporting, provisioning, etc)• Analyze client needs and gather business requirements• Train others on the various supported applications from a basic end user to advanced technical perspective • Provide metrics and status reports• Assist in developing standards, procedures and policies for testing, deployment, management and support of applications• Provide 24x7 support of the application environment (part of the on-call rotation); Operational focus• Provide support to customers, development and other IT teams• Scripting and tool work to improve team operations, monitoring and system availability• Provide feedback to vendors on application improvements • Liaison among users, technical support and development teamsExperience and Skills• B.S. in related field or equivalent professional work experience• Strong technical and analytical background, problem solving skills and ability to work well in a fast paced environment• Experience in supporting systems in a 24x7 production environment• Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written)• Knowledgeable and skilled in Windows and UNIX/Linux based Operating Systems• Experience managing multiple projects with diverse requirements and competing priorities• Client and server application installation and configuration experience• Good understanding of web interface, server client, and thin client product solutions• Application tuning knowledge, capacity concepts, benchmarking, trending, and monitoring• Knowledge of Oracle and or MSSQL server databases• Knowledge of all defined supported applications (Appworx, NetInsight, Memetrics, BMC Service Desk Express, etc.) or the desire and ability to quickly assimilate this knowledge• Scripting experience in a mainstream language (Perl, PHP, Python, shell)Additional Qualifications a plus:• Web application experience (HTML, Java Script, Tomcat, Websphere, Weblogic, JBoss, etc)• Knowledge of networks, firewalls, switches, load balancers• Experience in XML• Knowledge of WAN/LAN Topologies, systems and applications management• Knowledge of VMWare ESX Server technologies
