We have an exceptional opportunity in our Malibu, CA location for a Graphic Designer. Be part of a team of editors and designers passionate about creating the highest level art publication in America.

 

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for but not limited to the items listed below.Work directly with the Art Director and editorial team to plan, design, proof, and ship editorial pages for a monthly publication.Work with the Art Director and Photo Editor to select photography, proof loose color, ensure accuracy of images, manage images and other page assets.Work with the Art Director and the marketing team to produce sales sheets, bind-in cards, and other marketing collateral as needed.Work with the Web team to produce web graphics and convert stories for web usage as needed.Work with the Ad Sales team to produce advertisements and special advertising sections as needed.Work with the Production Manager to ship completed files to pre-press, proof and markup color, and proof match prints.

 The successful candidate must the following requirements for this position:A degree in one of the following areas; Communications, Journalism or Graphics Design. A minimum of 2 years experience in editorial design and production for a publishing company. Cursory knowledge and interest in traditional and contemporary art, art history, and the art world.Possess a clean, classic sophisticated design aesthetic.Superior organization skills, meticulous and obsessive attention to visual details (including typography, image cropping, and color balance).Ability to work within a templated format, however, still be able to use creativity to layout a page.Independent thinker and problem solver with the ability to design editorial pages congruent to the text.Excellent Adobe InDesign CS3 skills, including working with templates, layers, style mapping and nested styles. Working knowledge of Illustrator and PhotoShop.Ability to collaborate with other team members and contribute positively to the group effort.
