Group Marketing Director, PEOPLE Magazine Group - Time Warner Retail
The Group Marketing Director is responsible for overseeing the newsstand marketing strategies for PEOPLE, PEOPLE STYLEWATCH, PEOPLE Specials, and PEOPLE EN ESPAÑOL.
This position demands strong leadership, strategic, marketing, problem solving, management, financial, creative, and interpersonal skills.
The position reports to the EVP/CMO of T/WR.
Responsibilities include:
• The development and execution of innovative, scalable marketing strategies that significantly advance titles’ newsstand initiatives
• Management/training of two direct reports and three indirect reports who, along with Group Marketing Director, will help create and execute newsstand initiatives
• Regular interaction and strategic partnering with Consumer Marketing VPs to ensure title strategy is reflected in newsstand priorities and goals
• Close collaboration with TWR retail and wholesale sales, as well as internal research and finance departments, to proactively advance title objectives
• Advise titles on significant findings from analysis of market and research data and important industry initiatives
• Keen attention to industry-related trends and initiatives which will influence portfolio’s businesses
• Participation with other GMDs and Marketing EVP in various corporate initiatives and ad hoc task forces.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have at least six to eight years professional experience with a marketing/brand focus in publishing or packaged goods.
Magazine newsstand and/or direct marketing circulation experience a plus.
Prior management experience is required.
The individual must also have a strong understanding of finance and accounting with excellent analytical and quantitative abilities.
Must be highly motivated and proactive with polished communication skills.
The ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple projects is vital.
An advanced degree in marketing or finance is desirable.

T/WR handles all aspects of sales and marketing in the U.S. and Canada for more than 300 magazine brands, including People, Time, Sports Illustrated, Fortune, and In Style, among others.
Location: Parsippany, NJ with some need to travel to New York City office at least two days/week.
