International Sourcing Specialist

 

This position is primarily responsible for directing and coordinating all activities related to development and procurement of all new products produced by 3rd party manufacturers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Maintain a disciplined approach for developing new overseas products.

· Participate in new product design initiatives, including recommendations for alternative constructions, packaging and materials for cost savings.

· Preliminary costing—Lead the development of costing guidelines for use by Executive Management, Marketing, Sales and Finance.

· Final Costing/Post-Mortem Review—Assist and/or lead the review of actual delivered cost for key items relative to budgeted cost. 

· Vendor sourcing/selection—Identify promising new factories and/or trading companies for developing functionally superior, differentiated product..

· Vendor management— Maintain regular communication with key overseas vendors to ensure product quality and accurate shipment schedules.

· Develop method for evaluating key vendors and offer specific, actionable improvement suggestions/expectations.  As necessary, oversee corrective action response program with vendors to ensure product quality.

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree plus 2-3 years related experience

· 3 years of product development, sourcing, and/or purchasing experience, including international experience.

· Excellent quantitative reasoning capability.

· Excellent project management and process development skill; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Excellent negotiation skills; experience in crafting creative, attractive settlements to supplier price negotiations.

· Outstanding attention to detail in identifying cost savings opportunities, lead time issues, product availability.

· Must be willing to travel internationally approx. 4 times per year
