Position Description:
Position Summary:-Under the general direction of the Director - DDS Operations, the Manager of DDS Operations is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Peabody DDS print room. This includes working with Production, Client Services and assigned staff to coordinate production planning, ensure staff are properly trained, report critical operational information, and ensure that required service levels are met or exceeded. It also involves coordinating/controlling work sent to other outside vendors for print/finishing, ensuring effective communications are maintained with senior management, and working with Client Service/Systems to implement new applications.General Responsibilities:-Review incoming print requests and prioritize work for the DDS print team and outside vendors. Work with management to establish DDS procedures, monitor daily production and ensure that all work is completed on a timely basis with high quality.-Work with Client Services/Systems and the DDS Document Development Team to test and implement new applications.-Communicate daily production goals and provide ongoing performance feedback to assigned staff, including via the preparation of periodic performance evaluations.-Work with the Client Service and Production teams to address file/print job issues and ensure that all client SLAs are met.-Work with DDS management, Human Resources and temp agencies to address staffing and capacity issues, and ensure that appropriate daily/periodic reports are issued to monitor/measure volumes, service/quality levels, costs, etc.Day-to-Day Activities:-Oversees daily DDS production to ensure that all work is processed in a timely and cost effective manner. Prioritizes print requests as necessary to meet client SLAs and production goals.-Monitors associate/temp attendance and ensures that company/ departmental guidelines and policies are strictly adhered to. Provides feedback to staff and administers corrective action procedures as per company policies. -Works with DDS management to develop staff schedules to meet department and business commitments. Communicates effectively with Client Services and Lynnfield Production to ensure DDS has appropriate resources to meet production requirements. -Notifies senior management of any potential problems as they relate to staffing, workflow, and scheduling and recommends solutions. -Prepares daily production reports to monitor productivity, backlogs, and service levels. Ensures that all client service level commitments are consistently met or exceeded.-Cross-trains staff to ensure that multiple backups are available to support each function within the DDS operation. Prepares procedures documentation and ensures that all staff are appropriately trained to perform their required functions.-Maintains detailed knowledge of all DDS hardware/equipment, software, applications, job schedules and production procedures. Also maintains current knowledge of various print related technologies that may be applied to DDS to streamline operations and improve productivity.-Monitors DDS quality to ensure that all work meets client standards. In addition, continually improves quality and reduces costs by streamlining processes and implementing best practices to prevent errors/waste.-Interfaces with Technical/Systems staff to develop and implement automated solutions to ongoing business problems/challenges.-Interacts with Client Service Team to resolve issues and develop solutions to business problems.

Qualifications:
-Bachelors Degree required-Knowledge of digital print technologies, full process color printing, and Xerox/Kodak/IBM digital printers is required. Knowledge of offset print technology is a plus.-Must have a strong technical knowledge of various Graphics and Document Composition Software applications (Adobe Acrobat/Distiller, Photoshop, Pitstop, Adobe Illustrator, and Quark Express, and Adobe PageMaker).- 5-7 years of operations experience, including a minimum of 3 years of supervisory/management experience in a digital/offset print operation.Minimum Skills and Competencies:-Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and management at multiple levels. -Strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. -Solid organizational skills. Must be able to effectively multi-task and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. -Strong PC skills including advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, file linking, charts/graphs, etc.), Word, and Visio. Knowledge of the Adobe Suite (Acrobat, distiller and plug ins such as Pitstop) is required.-Strong analytical skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to effectively consolidate and report critical information to management.-Excellent management skills. -Must be a self-starter and demonstrate strong initiative.-Must be flexible to work various shifts, overtime and weekends as required.-Other duties as assigned.
