General Description:

The #1 Paper Machine Coordinator has the overall responsibility of #1 paper machine as it relates to the safe and efficient production of security and carbonless paper grades. The individual is responsible for safety, productivity, quality, cost, and reliability. The position reports to the Paper Machine Superintendent.

Specific Duties:

The Paper Machine Coordinator is expected to provide clear direction and vision, build effective teams, focus on customer needs, and practice sound business management. The successful candidate is responsible for monitoring and evaluating all aspects of paper production including safety, environmental, productivity, quality, cost, and lean manufacturing initiatives. In the area of safety, the individual is responsible for ensuring safety activities including one-on-one safety discussions, condition monitoring, housekeeping and safety inspections, safety meetings, accident investigations, near miss reporting, and development of job safety analyses. In addition, the individual is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving product quality and equipment problems utilizing hourly personnel, maintenance employees, and other department/mill resources. A basic understanding of process chemistry, mechanical systems, and quality assurance is necessary. Constant communication is required within the department as well as across other areas of the mill. The successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership experience preferably in a union manufacturing environment. A technical background in engineering or an advanced technical degree is preferred. The desired work experience level is 2-5 years in a technical or lead manufacturing role.
