Part Time Proofreader

Job Summary:

The employee will take printed copy of the editions on paper and edit them for content accuracy, layout design issues, placement of advertisements confirmation and  spelling issues.



 

Responsibilities: 



· Edit printed copies of newspapers, proofreading the editions for confirmation of correct information

· Follow checklist of required items that will ensure the product is accurate

· Keep proofreading area organized while editions are printing through the course of the press night

· Contribute to the Company’s goals by insuring that the Company’s high standards for accuracy, consistency and quality are met

· Occasionally communicate with vendors to help coordinate any out-sourced production activities

· Under the direction of the Production Manager or intermediate supervisor, the employee may after some time in the position also be asked to take formatted data and organize it using the Company’s software and equipment, into a finished product, ready for printing and distribution

· May also be asked to produce PDF documents and transfer the papers to printers via FTP program

· Participate in staff meetings and offer input when requested by the Production Manager

· Perform any other tasks as required by the Production Manager

 

 

Requirements:

 1) Education and Experience:

a) High school diploma required

b) Some previous proofreading experience a plus

 2) Skills:

a) Superior attention to detail

b) Organized individual

c) Strong computer skills

d) Ability to meet deadlines

e) Ability to work well with little supervision

 

The hours for this position are 6:30pm to 12am Monday and Thursday evenings.
