Pearson Education, the developer of MasteringPhysics, an online homework and tutoring system for university physics, is seeking a physicist with significant experience teaching undergraduate or AP high school physics courses to assist in the development of content for our sophisticated system. This system administers problems with a rich structure of hints and sub-problems and collects extensive data on how students learn as they work through each problem. This position will help spread the vision that electronic tutorial-style homework improves on traditional hand-written homework in assessing student skills and can free up teaching resources for more individual student contact. Responsibilities include assisting in selection, training and support of content writers. Review tutorials developed for consistency, pedagogy and quality. Assist in development of a content plan for a specific book along with the content team lead and editorial team. Coordinate and track the development of the tutorials being developed. Work with editorial teams to set the standards for the content such as art, style and notation. Analyze student interaction data to substantially improve problems after they are deployed. Help to define, implement and document pedagogy standards and to create problem templates for other authors to follow. Help to define product requirements in support of delivering superlative tutorial content. Solid knowledge of university-level Physics (MS or higher preferred). Experience in teaching at the AP high school level or above. Ability to communicate clearly and fluently in good English, both written and verbal. Ability to give clear feedback to content writers and other members of the writing team.
