Pre-Flight Technician

Southwest Precision Printers, LP has an excellent opportunity for a Pre-Flight Technician. 

 



JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for loading the customer supplied electronic files for output onto the Pre-Press server.  Check customer’s electronic files for completeness and potential problems using software on both Macintosh and Windows OS platforms.  Identifying missing or problematic components and communicate them to the CSR, customer, and production personnel and work directly with them to solve any problems with the job.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Use preflight software to check incoming work, to determine if all elements of the job conform to SWPP’s specifications. Copy files to server and populate folders appropriately. Organize disk files neatly and clearly. Archive and de-archive files. Convert non-standard applications to PDF or EPS or InDesign files. Check that all links and fonts are present and accounted for. Perform basic troubleshooting, especially size, color. Communicate concerns found in preflight procedures. Produce lasers for planning and production. Run all jobs through Flight Check.  Collect, label and burn to disk final Client files.

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:   A minimum of two years experience preferred. Knowledge of FlightCheck software. Knowledge and operational abilities in all prepress software applications on MAC and PC workstations (Adobe Creative Suite, Quark XPress, PageMaker, and PDF manipulation software) Knowledge of printing process. Excellent attention to detail.
