Regional Editor

Orange County publisher seeks regional editor with strong organizational abilities for monthly boating magazine.

 

Organize, supervise, and participate in the development of all copy submitted for regional section; work with management in the development of yearly editorial calendar; set and enforce editorial deadlines. Consult with editors, designers and publishers regarding content for each issue; provide evaluation of manuscripts to editors, as needed; supervise the submission process and tracking system.

Work within an established budget, negotiate agreements with writers, and acquire manuscripts. Work with key internal staff and external freelancers, and guide all manuscripts through the editorial process.

 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination two monthly regional sections.

This includes:

— Evaluating and hiring of freelancers.

— Procurement of photos (experience with taking digital photos and shooting videos a plus)

— Working with established budget

— Create, maintain and update regional editorial schedule

— Organize and oversee all regional editorial content

— Meet production/editorial deadlines

— Some department and feature writing/editing

— Writing photo captions

— Proof layout pages

— Some travel required
