Sales Representative, Textbooks

SAGE Publications, a leading academic and professional publisher of books, journals, and electronic media, located in Thousand Oaks, California, with offices in London, India, and Singapore, is currently seeking a Sales Representative, Textbooks. The Inside Sales Representative, Textbooks is responsible for selling our textbooks to college professors primarily via the telephone. Key responsibilities include: lead generation, calling and emailing decision makers as well as adoption tracking.


Other responsibilities include:
-Complete campus planning for a predetermined list of course markets at all accounts identified as the target market.
-Communicate with editorial and marketing staff, authors, and customers to share textbook course market and product information. 
-Track all pending adoptions and report on your progress towards each sales opportunity weekly.
-Make campus sales visits to faculty and bookstores during the fall and/or spring semester.
-Travel to and represent company at possibly 2 to 3 conventions each year.


Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in relevant subject area preferred.
-1-2 years in field or telephone sales ideal.
-Experience in the publishing industry preferred.
-Enthusiastic about being a team player.

-Pleasant and persuasive telephone manner.
-Competitive spirit who enjoys challenges.
-Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
