Scanner Operator

Dover Publications, a subsidiary of Courier Corporation, is a niche publisher with over 9,000 titles in print.  We are currently recruiting for a Scanner Operator.  The Scanner Operator is responsible for operating the scanner and producing proofs and final digital files of the highest quality in both color and monochromatic scans.  The Scanner Operator will be responsible for color correcting, image retouching and ensuring that scan is of a high quality before passing it along to the Manager, Art & Design to review.  The Scanner Operator will be responsible for scanning 4 color, Black & White line, halftones and engravings.

 

Essential functions for this role include:Activates scanner to produce primary color and black scans. Analyzes original to evaluate color density, gradation highlights, middle tones, and shadows, using densitometer and knowledge of light and color. Performs tests to determine exposure adjustments on scanner and adjusts scanner controls until specified results are obtained. Qualified candidates will possess:HS Diploma or equivalentExtensive knowledge of the MAC operating system with the program Photoshop being the primary application.2 - 5 years Graphic Arts / Scanning experienceEffective oral and written communication skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple teamsAttention to detail
