Job Description The diverse set of businesses that comprise the McGraw-Hill Information & Media Segment provide the information and insight professionals in business and government need to remain competitive in their fields and in the global economy. Our flagship publication, BusinessWeek, is the world's most widely read business magazine. JD Power and Associates, is a global leader in conducting independent and unbiased surveys of customer satisfaction, product quality and buyer behavior.The Business Information Group, provides business information publications, products and services in the Energy, Construction and Aviation markets. Broadcasting, reaches eight million viewers through its four ABC affiliates in Denver, Indianapolis, San Diego & Bakersfield. The information & Media segment operates in over twelve countries with approximately one billion in revenue in 2007. Reports to Senior Vice President – Finance & Planning Manages Segment Financial Operations including the coordination of the monthly close process, monthly estimate process and annual budgeting process (Preliminary Operating Budget and Medium Range Plan); Manages the Sarbanes Oxley compliance effort for the Segment; Responsible for the Controller for the various Segment level departments including Executive, Segment Information Management and Marketing & Communication. Develops and administers Segment Allocations; Administers financial database and analytical software (OFA) for certain of the Segment’s business units; Responsible for all reporting to Corporate Controller, Financial Analysis and Profit Planning and Corporate Information Management; Performs ad hoc assignments from the SVP – Finance & Planning including but not limited to policy development, acquisition and divestiture analysis and integration; Acts as the Segment liaison to the Segment business units with respect to the above mentioned processes; Acts as the Segment liaison to Corporate areas: Controllers, FAPP, Segment Compensation, Executive Compensation and Finance Shared Services; Oversees sales commissions processing for certain I&M business units and responsible for implementation of sales commission processing best practices across the I&M segment Recruit, develop and manage professional staff in performing the aforementioned tasks. MBA and 10-15 years of diversified financial management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Working knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley regulations and requirements Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to interact with senior level executives Ability to exercise independent direction and judgment and work in a fast-paced environment Strong aptitude for technology Copyright 2008 The McGraw-Hill Companies.
