Senior Manager, Advertising & Marketing - VIZ Media, SF

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Advertising & Marketing, to join our Magazine Sales & Marketing team!


SUMMARY

Works on advertising sales and related marketing for two national monthly teen magazines, several seasonal specialty publications, and online advertising to meet revenue and profitability goals.  Manages own account list and also helps manage all advertising functions including page plans, reporting and research and communication with outside ad sales rep firms. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

1. Manages advertising sales list consisting of both nationwide inside sales accounts and outside sales accounts in the Pacific Northwest.

2. Creates and manages sales materials and promotions related to advertising needs including media kits, presentations and added value.

3. Assists in the development and articulation of advertising sales and marketing strategy in response to publishing objectives.

4. Develops and identifies new potential clients.

5. Manages the preparation of RFP responses.

6. Helps manage and interpret market research including reader surveys and Simmons syndicated studies

7. Manages all online advertising.

8. Assists in print and online media buys for the company.

9. Assists with trade media buys and reporting for the purpose of increasing advertising revenue.

10. Assists Senior Director as needed with all aspects of Ad Sales planning including budgets, invoicing, page plans, and internal presentations

11. Assists Senior Director in communication with outside Sales Rep firms as needed.

In addition to these typical duties, may perform other duties as assigned and required.

MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

· Media Sales or Planning experience a MUST.

· Knowledge of publishing, online and advertising industry a MUST.

· Knowledge of anime and manga a PLUS.

· Consumer marketing experience a PLUS.

· Ability to create sales materials and presentations a MUST.

· Ability to work with high proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word programs a MUST.

· Ability to interact with culturally diverse clients, service providers and staff.

· Ability to work legally in the United States.

· Ability to live in/commute to the SF Bay Area.

· Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

 

MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

· 7+ years of experience in one or more of the following: advertising sales, consumer marketing, media planning, account management

· Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will potentially supervise members of the Promotions & Magazines Advertising team.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This positions works predominantly in an office environment. Approximately 75% of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal; therefore, must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices. Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers, faxes, mailing machinery. 

 

As part of a multi-media entertainment company, employees may be subjected to work-related images including content such as:  sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence.  Employees should be willing to work with this type of content.  VIZ Media does not condone the viewing of this content where not work-related.

Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies and procedures.  Regular and predictable attendance is required.  Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights, on an as-needed basis, is required. Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
