San Diego, California Responsibilities:
The PR Specialist is expected to partner with the organization to support the PR Managers, PR Team and Department in all areas of Public Relations to include:
Execution of PR plans and programs and campaigns for first party PlayStation® family software titles. Support, coordinate and drive PR agencies and various vendors to deliver on planned programs and elements decided by PR Manager. Relationship development with key members of enthusiast, consumer and business media, including various vendors, other SCEA department and both internal and external developers. Execute on strategic (both reactive and proactive) programs to gain media mind share and understanding of the platforms and associated first party titles. Support efforts for PlayStation®2, PSP™ and PlayStation®3 platforms and various PR events such as press tours, E3 and more). Build relationships with new consumer, business and enthusiast media outlets and foster those relationships into generating coverage for platforms and first party line-up. Create PR materials including fact sheets, pitch letters, Q&A’s, FAQ’s, developer bios, testimonial sheets, press releases and wrap reports. Complete projects with minimal supervision and direction and be able to manage up to PR Manager Supervisor, as well as keep the entire team up-to-date on the various programs that the Specialist is working on. Participate in creative brainstorming among both internal and external PR Teams, and provide active feedback and creative ideas. Support development of PowerPoint presentations and speech points as necessary. Coordinate media tours/events in support of first party line-up and hardware efforts. Interact effectively with other departments within SCEA and various vendors.

Qualifications:The desired candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) and at least 2-3 years of Public Relations experience in consumer PR. The candidate must have the ability to work closely with different teams and departments within SCEA. Experience working with or at an external PR Agency is a must. The desired applicant needs to have the ability and desire to build and foster relationships with various members of enthusiast, business, broadcast and consumer press, as well as work well as a team member. The desired candidate must demonstrate experience in media relations, public relations writing, plan execution, coordination of press tours/events and proven interaction with corporate partners, media and vendors. Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills are a must. Applicant should be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Lotus Notes or similar email program and the Internet. Candidate must also be able to learn new technical programs as well. The desired candidate must have a solid/proven track record of executing on consumer and vertical PR plans and strategies. Keen interest in videogames and knowledge of the gaming industry. The ability to learn and develop with an established and growing market is a must.
