The Sr SQL Server DBA in the Core Technology Group will be responsible the following: planning, coordinating and administering matters related to database(s), including: base definition, structures, documentation, upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. This person will ensure accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools (such as base dictionaries), maintains security integrity controls, formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. This person will also direct the following: troubleshooting, recovery, tuning of the database, software installation and upgrades, resolving errors and failures, auditing activities, and resource utilization. Ideal Candidates must be willing to support production databases in a high quality and dynamic environment. Qualifications & Requirements: 8 or more years experience with the target platform. MCITP/MCDBA certification is a plus. Must have experience with SQL Server database internals including security, replication, multi-instance management, configuration and management toolsets, stored procedures, triggers and functions. Experience in optimizing and enhancing performance of Very Large (multi Terabyte), highly-transactional SQL Server instances. Tuning databases (Physical design, Partitioning, Archiving), Application Tuning (TSQL, Indexed Views, Hints) and OS (memory, disk, paging) using System Monitor tools, Experience with Database migrations and SQL, Implement backup and Recovery strategies using Full, Differential, Transaction Logs and File group backups. Must have experience working with SQL Server 2005 in a Windows 2003 environment, 64 bit preferred, along with Installation and configuration of SQL Server 2000, 2005 instances in stand Alone, remote and n+1 clustered environments. Experience with TSQL programming using stored procedures, views and triggers, tuned offensive SQL. Design and implement SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) & SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Ability to communicate effectively in a large distributed software development organization. BS in a technical discipline. Occasional off-hours work required. Hands on experience in using tools or custom scripts to monitor the health of the database. Hands on experience with running and interpreting performance monitoring utilities. Strong replication experience, in addition to backup and recovery implementations either in a stand alone or using recovery management tools. Proven ability to mentor developers in how to properly write stored procedures and Packages. Experience working with Systems Architects to proactively design and optimize databases and their underlying hardware and OS platforms to meet future capacity planning needs in a high growth environment.
