Position Description:

TITLE: Supervising Editor, SC&LGDIVISION: Scholastic Classroom & Library GroupLOCATION: New York OfficeREPORTING TO: Editorial Director, SC&LGDIRECT REPORTS: TBDSummaryExperienced, responsible, creative editor with strong visual/design sense will oversee development from concept to completed project for K-8 supplemental publishing. Proven ability to make complex research-based pedagogy and best instructional practices appealing and interesting to teachers and students is essential.ResponsibilitiesManages editorial vendors, editors, and writers; makes assignments, reviews drafts writes notesResponsible for development of scope & sequence of skills, concepts, and activities for K-8 kids

Qualifications:

Experience10 years experience writing and editing of materials with a strong instructional component for kids at a variety of skills levels5 years experience managing writers, freelance editors, on projects as well as taking full responsibility for schedules and budgetsExperience and familiarity with leveled text and small-group and/or differentiated instructional practices a plusNOTE: Please include salary requirements in your cover letter.Scholastic Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.M/F/D/V
