Job Description To more effectively serve the growing global need for business information in the energy, construction and aviation markets, Business Information Group (BIG), which combines Platts, McGraw-Hill Construction and the Aviation Week Group within McGraw-Hill's Information and Media Services segment. The BIG segment is in search of a experienced Technical Lead.  The Technical Lead assists Project Managers in the successful completion of projects against scope definition, timeline, budget and quality of deliverables.  This job role will require knowledge of project management and the software lifecycle.  This job role reports into the Content Management group of BIG and will be key contributor to the implementation of our Content Strategy.  Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for a subset of the technical deliverables associated with a specific project Communication responsibility to all relevant project stakeholders for project progress and issues Accountable for executing against the project schedule. As necessary will elevate issues and/or recommendations to the project owner. Attends governance meetings and presents information as required. Provides leadership to the project team to define and translate business process based requirements and business rules for system development Involved with design, debug, test and deployment of internal and external applications Assists with developing appropriate documentation as applications move into production Work effectively and efficiently with internal and external technical and business teams. Remain current and grow knowledge of XML technologies Look for opportunities within legacy systems for automation and consolidation Provides guidance and recommendations for best practices in the design and use of  BIG’s technical infrastructure Responsible for helping and ensuring that the team meets project milestones and deadlines Apply subject matter knowledge to business issues and should be regarded as a subject matter expert in the content management field as well as in the related technologies Contribute to the development of new ideas and methods as well as work on projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors  Lead team members, third parties, and technology counterparts in the implementation of architecture solutions at an enterprise level Assist in the development of proposal and costing plans for projects The Technical Lead role requires a minimum of three to six years experience in hands on leadership of technical projects.  Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project. Bachelor’s degree in related field, specialized training, certification or equivalent experience Desire to achieve Project Management certification Familiarity with Oracle RDBMS, Informatica, Business Objects, XML tools, Java, Documentum and/or SOA architectures Ability to partner with customers to identify needs and apply appropriate technical solutions Required Skills: Analytical skills such as define requirements and issue resolution Solid knowledge of the Project and Software Life Cycle Effective use of time management, planning and organization skills Use of effective communication skills both orally and written Leadership skills Preference will be given to those candidates who have experience in automation, analytics and integration as it relates to content collection and integration across formats, platforms and business verticals.
