Director of Accounting/Controller

Bainbridge is a full-service real estate company specializing in the development, construction, acquisition and management of multifamily apartments throughout the state of Florida and Mid-Atlantic Region. 
Position Purpose: Responsible for directing, coordinating, maintaining and controlling the accounting department.  Monitors Department policies and procedures and recommends improvements, consults with the Senior Management team, participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives and serves as a resource in all aspects of accounting.  Ensures accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions.  Oversees budgeting, general ledger, fixed asset management, cash flows, etc.  Ensures accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory and Company procedures.  Assign, directs and appraises accounting team members.

 Essential Functions: Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of effective accounting strategies, policies and procedures. Assumes responsibility for the effective preparation, maintenance and reporting of internal and external financial records and analyses. Oversees daily operations and performing administrative functions for the accounting department. Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with Company personnel, departments and management. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective business relations with vendors, outside auditors and regulators, and professional trade groups. Effectively supervises Accounting personnel, ensuring optimal performance. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

Qualifications: 

Bachelors in Accounting, Masters in accounting, business or a related field preferred.  CPA preferred. 5 to 10 years experience with Joint Venture accounting, construction, development and property management, cash flow, budgeting and forecasting.  Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices under GAAP and cash bases.   Minimum 5 years supervisory experience  Excellent leadership abilities Able to organize, coordinate and direct projects
