Human Resources Representative - Recruiting/Employee Relations/Training

Boston Properties, Inc. (NYSE: BXP) is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that develops, acquires, manages, operates and owns a diverse portfolio of Class A office properties in Boston, Washington DC, Midtown Manhattan, San Francisco and New Jersey. 

 

Primary Purpose of Position:

Implement, coordinate, and maintain organizational programs, policies, and processes in the full range of HR functional areas with a focus on recruitment and staffing, employee relations, and training and development.

 

Essential Functions:

Recruitment and StaffingPerform life cycle recruitment for open positions in the Corporate Services Departments to include and not be limited to sourcing and interviewing candidates, offer letters, etc.Conduct reference checks on prospective candidates for employment across the Company and facilitate the background investigation process.

 

Employee RelationsProvide guidance to managers/supervisors/employees in multiple geographic locations in the use and consistent application of company policies and practices.Conduct, compile and analyze exit interviews and prepare turnover data to determine trends and advise on corrective action to retain valued staff. Oversee the coordination of involuntary separations. Provide support on employee relation issues to include investigations and performance documentation. Consult with senior HR staff on more complex issues. Assist in maintaining the performance management system by counseling managers/supervisors and employees. Participate in coaching and development meetings to resolve employee related issues.  Develop recommendations for and implementation of new and revised HR policies and procedures in conjunction with the senior HR staff.Assist in administration of compensation program and policies. Maintain the Employee Handbook.Write, revise, edit and proofread company policies and procedures and related documents as needed. Use electronic mediums and other vehicles to communicate information.

 

Training and DevelopmentConduct new employee orientations on a periodic basis and coordinate quarterly corporate office and regional orientations.Assist senior HR team members in organizational training and development efforts to include the research, development and delivery of training courses (both platform and e-learning) related to policies, employee relations, performance management, benefits, and other topics.  

 

 

Requirements and Qualifications:A BA/BS degree required.A minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in HR required, preferably in multi-site/multi-state environments.PHR preferred, or progress towards certification.Demonstrated aptitude in more than one area of human resources (e.g. employee relations, recruitment and staffing, organizational development, affirmative action).Demonstrated ability to research and analyze various types of data information. Previous experience in a public company desirable.Working knowledge of HR related laws/regulations to include but not be limited to FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.  Strong written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated commitment to and proficiency in customer service culture.Ability to establish credibility with managers and employees.Attention to detail.Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently, work proactively, and to achieve results without close supervision.Strong desire to work as a member of a team.Demonstrated practical, hands-on, “can-do” approach, and the ability to work efficiently and creatively.Exhibits and champions excellence in work and a willingness to embrace change.Ability to multitask, manage multiple and simultaneous priorities, and prioritize a heavy workload in a fast paced, dynamic environment is required.Proven organizational skills and experience leading small-scale projects.Proactive approach towards improving processes and systems.Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem solving skills.Ability to exercise sound judgment, strong negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.Ability to identify and handle priority and/or sensitive issues with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality.Ability to make large group presentations and consult effectively one-on-one.Advanced computer literacy with specific proficiency in word, excel, and PowerPoint.  Knowledge of Access desirable.Travel is possible – up to 10% per calendar year.Flexibility with schedule and ability to work beyond regular business hours.
