Paralegal
Harsch Investment Properties is a dynamic, expanding real estate investment company, which owns and operates more than 100 properties in five western states. We are looking for someone to join our winning team as a paralegal.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING/SKILLS REQUIREDHigh school graduate with a minimum of two years postsecondary, college or paralegal education experience or equivalent. Paralegal certification desirable but not required. Five plus years of prior real estate paralegal experience in either a law firm or other corporate setting working with multiple attorneys necessary. Broad real estate subject matter experience to be shown, including retail leasing. Transactional, development and construction experiences a plus.
Proficient on personal computer with word processing skills (Word for Windows) and spreadsheet application (Excel). Ability to learn Yardi Property Management and AIA Construction Contracts software programs. Ability to type a minimum of 60 words per minute. Attention to detail extremely important; quality conscious. Above average in analytical, grammar, math and spelling skills. Professional telephone etiquette. Good writing skills. Ability to assimilate new information. Good organizational skills and ability to remain composed and flexible. Dependable, reliable, cooperative. Good interpersonal skills. Self-motivated with ability to follow-through and exercise good judgment. Pleasant and courteous. Professional appearance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS
Work effectively and efficiently with all personnel, including multiple lawyers and other staff.
Assist attorneys in preparing, completing, abstracting, organizing, tracking, calendaring and maintaining contracts, leases, exhibits, title and related documentation in retail, office, industrial and development contexts.
Investigate, gather and analyze factual information relating to transactions and draft documents, prepare exhibits and diagrams, organize and compile appropriate final work product.
Coordinate with other company personnel as to acquisition, disposition, due diligence requirements, corporate filings, title and financial information.
Collect outside counsel billings, obtain approvals and process for payment, track billing information as to provider, type of services and locale.
Provide administrative support (including word processing, scanning, copying, labeling, organizing, filing, faxing, telephone services, mail) to the Legal Department.
Assist in maintenance of Legal Department Files. Open, monitor and close files, as directed.
Set up meetings and arrange for refreshments, etc.
Assist with other tasks or special projects, as assigned.
