Assistant Manager, Retail Foods (Convention Center)

We serve amphitheaters, convention centers, conference centers, national and state parks, sports stadiums and arenas, and zoos. We are currently seeking an Assistant Manager - Retail Foods for the ARAMARK operation at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. As an Assistant Manager, you will help run the Retail Foods and Bar operations at the convention center. You will assist the Retail Foods Manager with forecasting sales, cost of sales and labor. You will also assist with determining hours of operation for subcontractors, pricing, recruitment, selection, training and scheduling of all staff within the department. You will supervise the preparation and service of food and refreshments, and assist with the implementation and monitoring of ARAMARK quality improvement processes, HACCP, sanitation and various control procedures. Since 1975 we have created culinary memories at Convention Centers throughout the United States.  The secret to our success is that we start with great food and a well managed facility.  We understand that ensuring a memorable experience for our customers goes far beyond the food we serve.ARAMARK currently manages over 50 convention centers across the United States. At 1.85 million gross square feet, Houston’s George R. A part of the City of Houston Convention & Entertainment Department, the building features 1.2 million square feet of exhibition, meeting and registration space, seven exhibit halls and 117 meetings rooms.The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus 2-3 years industry & management experience in a food service environment. The ability to manage in a fast-paced and diverse environment with focus on client and guest service is essential. Previous management in a high volume food and beverage setting is preferred.  Previous management experience within a convention or sports venue would also be a plus.Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes a variety of days, evenings, and weekends.   Position requires the manager to be able to walk/stand for long periods of time and lift/carry up 20 lbs of product.
