We are currently hiring:Position : CASHIERS Location : Austin, TX

 

Summary of Basic Functions :

 

To serve customers in a friendly and courteous manner.  To check their orders out as pleasantly, accurately, and effectively as possible.  To build their confidence and loyalty.  Committed to fulfilling Randalls / Tom Thumb customers’ expectations of continual good service.

 

Specific Functions :

 

• Scan items and operate register.

• Identify and weigh produce items accurately.

• Record prices and departments and correct mistakes when made.

• Redeem food stamps and promotional coupons.

• Follow procedures for voids, coupons, returned items, etc.

• Collect money from customers and make change.

• Keep currency and coupons organized.

• Verify all additions to and removal of money from register.

• Balance cash drawer.

• Maintain a neat and clean work area.

• Greet every customer with a smile.

• Thank every customer as they leave.

• Working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Randalls / Tom Thumb Employee Handbook, Orientation Handbook and Cashier’s Handbook.

• Successful completion of the new store employee program, sacker training program, money handling class and cashier training program.

 

Required Education and Experience

•   Able to compute simple numerical problems.

 

Working Conditions

• Working in climate controlled temperatures in a busy environment.

 

Physical Functions and Methods

• Independent mobility in front end of store.

• Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate products from cart to scanner.  Finger dexterity sufficient to work cash register keys and finger money, coupons, and food stamps.

• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers.  Visual acuity sufficient to read product labels, coupons, and prices.  Must be able to determine different types of fruit and vegetables.

• Strength to lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

 

Secondary Functions

 

• Ability to work a flexible schedule.

• Experience in a related job helpful

• Neat appearance and good communication skills.

• Help other cashiers and sackers to promote teamwork between front-end coworkers.

• Perform other duties as required.
