JOB POSTING TITLE: DELIVERY DRIVER

GRADE LEVEL:  HOURLY/BARGAINING UNIT 470

 

 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

Ø  Understanding necessary stops to be made and what merchandise to deliver to each customer

Ø  Generate specific documentation with customer as well as with any returns

Ø  Possess the necessary qualifications to operate the various types of delivery vehicles.  Including add fuel and preventative maintenance checking, tires/oil, etc.

Ø  Deliver merchandise to multiple stops, touching cases.

Ø  Manually off-load merchandise, utilizing a hand-truck, at each customer location moving it into the building, placing stock on shelves or racks, at customers request

Ø  Occasionally remove merchandise from customer’s location to return

Ø  Responsible for the collection of cash/checks for merchandise delivered COD

Ø  Cleans and maintains inside of truck cab

Ø  Interpretation and use of documentation

 

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

Ø  Minimum age 21

Ø  1 year commercial driving experience OR 6 months of food or beverage delivery experience.

Ø  Clean driving record/driving record in good standings (not more than 2 convictions in the past two years for moving violations). 

Ø  No DUI conviction within the past three (3) years regardless of type of vehicle operated.

Ø  No license suspensions for traffic violations within the past three (3) years. (insurance overweight tickets are excluded)

Ø  License must be same as resident state

Ø  Must pass company administered road test.

Ø  Good verbal communication skills and customer service oriented.

Ø  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Ø  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Ø  Able to handle two wheelers that can be in excess of 200 lbs. of product up and down stairs.

Ø  Lifting, carrying, transferring product up to 125lbs, climbing steps, pushing/pulling.

Ø  Must be able to tolerate temperature variances for applicable working conditions.
