Corporate Strategist
POSITION SUMMARY: This position will: - As a key contributor of the Innovation Team within the Strategy SMO, this position will be responsible to set direction and carry out research and analysis of data and information to prepare presentation-ready documentation on trends that may present strategic opportunities for Sysco. Research and analysis will be performed on internal Sysco data as well as external information such as demographics, economic data, and business trends.- As a key contributor of the Performance Management Team within the Strategy SMO, this position will be primarily responsible for driving the development and execution of an Executive Performance Management scorecard. This scorecard will be utilized by Corporate and Operating Unit Sr. Management to ensure attainment of key objectives in growing shareholder value.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Incumbent will have primary responsibility to Conceptualize & Initiate research via multiple avenues, perform appropriate analysis, and decide which external or internal trends are key to achieving the objectives of the Innovation and Performance Management Initiatives2. Drive completion of research & analysis, interpret results, and develop recommendations in line with key objectives of Strategy organization3. Develop results presentations that are structured in an organized, clear, concise manner with appropriate recommendations for Sr. Management action4. Identify key, reliable sources of information to support the efforts. Where necessary, negotiate purchase/license of appropriate business/economic data with data providers.5. Identify and apply best practices in the field of Market research and data analysis; develop and extend knowledge of these practices in alignment with overall strategic objectives6. Develop and execute a process to evaluate and prioritize results of Sr. Management Ideation Sessions7. Create processes and applications to support an efficient and effective research effort that can be utilized for both recurring as well as ad hoc research requests8. Coordinate with key stakeholders to develop strategies, assumptions, timelines, and deliverables on assigned research activities9. Drive implementation of Executive Dashboard/Scorecard for Performance Management including specific metrics analysis and reporting10. Manage development and implementation of appropriate delivery mechanism of Performance Metrics dashboard/scorecard11. Oversee development of Regional and Local version of Performance Management Dashboard/Scorecard and development of delivery mechanism12. Work within the Strategy Innovation and Performance Management initiatives to further develop and continually enhance processes and systems utilized in both the Innovation and Performance Management Teams of the Strategy departmentJOB SPECIFICATIONS: 1. These qualifications are normally acquired through undergraduate or graduate studies in areas such as Business Management, Economics, Information Technology or similar discipline, and 3 to 5 years of related experience in accounting, finance, analysis, IT, or related work.2. Prior experience in Strategy, Innovation, Research and Performance Dashboard/Scorecards a distinct plus3. Appropriate knowledge to identify and pursue research & analysis in appropriate 4. Functional knowledge of Sysco‘s business (or foodservice industry) as well as an understanding of the factors that affect the growth and performance opportunities of the Sysco units is essential.5. Exceptional abilities in utilizing computer programs such as MS Word, Powerpoint, & Excel. Strong ability and previous experience with database reporting tools such as Access, Business Objects, etc.6. Functional understanding of Information Technology concepts to act as liaison with IT resources in design and development of tools and processes to support Innovation and Performance Management.7. Ability to lead small groups in planning, organizing and managing the workload, projects and activities of the department.8. Excellent listening, communication, and negotiation skills in order to articulate ideas and thoughts clearly through various means, including written and oral communications with all levels of the organization up to and including senior management. 9.
