Food Industry-Protein Buyer/Catagory Analyst

 DEPARTMENT:  Merchandising

 REPORTS TO: Director of Merchandising

 

DESCRIPTION: Position is responsible for a specific category or categories and their specific management.  Primary functions include supplier reviews, monitor and negotiate local programs,  sku management, product cuttings, excess and obsolete inventory management, coordination of flyers and “hot sheets”, monitor top selling commodity items to insure proper pricing and market updates, sales and margin growth analysis of category.  Category analysts are the point of contact for customer, ma’s and vendor inquiries and questions.

 

**  BACKGROUND QUALIFICATIONS:  2+ years experience in an industry-related (ie. protein, produce, or non-foods) company, food distribution, or brokerage company.  Experience in marketing related items strongly desired.  Must have knowledge of negotiation, marketing and merchandising principles.  Strong organizational, math, and written/verbal communication skills with ability to work under   pressure.  Familiarity with computer inventory systems a plus.
