Company: Whole Foods Market Career Level: Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff) Location: US-CO-Boulder Job Category: IT/Software Development Job Description This position will be responsible for regional software development and IT project management for the Rocky Mountain Region. Reporting to the Regional IT Coordinator will work closely with the Regional, Store, Facility, and Central business partners to plan and implement high quality software, applications, and systems into our locations. Responsibilities include all phases of the software development life-cycle, project scheduling and timeline development, and the implementation of inventory, receiving, and merchandising and other business applications for our Region.       Will do the following principle duties and responsibilities: • Hiring, training, and developing project manager(s), software developer(s), analyst(s), and implementation Team Members. • Building high functioning and empowered Team Members and Teams. • Leading the team in developing high quality software applications through all phases from requirements gathering, design, development, Q&A testing, user acceptance testing, through implementation. • Developing and implementing consistent processes for software change control. • Ensuring all applications in the Midwest region are SOX 404 and PCI compliant. • Enhancing and maintaining regional reporting systems. • Creating and/or leading the creation of application design, database design, and technology use documentation, including user training manuals. • Creating and/or overseeing the creation of project plans. • Ensuring projects are completed on-time and on-budget. • Working with cross-functional sponsors and teams to ensure project plans are properly sequenced and tasks are being completed timely. • Working with both Central and Regional partners to ensure our Region is implementing necessary programs to enhance our business systems. • Writing and sending weekly project updates to Company leadership. • Effectively managing vendor relationships. • Staying on top of current software development and project management trends. • Assisting in strategic planning for the Information Technology Team. • Assisting in the budgeting process. • Other Duties as assigned.   Must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: • Experience in developing and implementing high-quality applications through the software development life-cycle. • Strong project management skills with experience working across functional and regional teams. • Ability to explain difficult and complex concepts in an easy to understand way. • Prefer 3 - 5 years of proven experience leading medium to large size projects through to successful deployment. • Experience with project tool sets such as Microsoft Project. • Experience leading and developing teams and Team Members. • Prior team leader / manager experience required. • Ability to multi task and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Effective time-management skills and the ability to work without direct supervision when necessary. • Patience, understanding, flexibility, and a sense of humor. • Excellent customer service skills. • A desire to be part of a high-performance and collaborative team. • Proven leadership capabilities with the desire to mentor and grow others skills. • Ability to travel at times, including driving. • Some of the above experience can be exchanged for determination, drive, and proves success for an exceptional candidate.   Preferable knowledge, skills, and abilities: • Experience with inventory, receiving, and merchandising systems. • Experience with retail grocery applications. • Experience with logical database design; familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server database. • Experience with project tool sets such as Microsoft Project & Visio. • Familiarity with reporting applications such as Microsoft Reporting Services and Crystal Reports. • An understanding of data warehouse concepts including OLTP and OLAP. • Experience with business intelligence applications. • Familiarity with hand-held technologies in the Microsoft environment including .NET Compact Framework. • Familiarity with Microsoft .Net and .Net Compact tool sets and MS Windows software scripting. • Experience with Microsoft Office • Experience with Business Intelligence applications such as MicroStrategy and Business Objects.     At Whole Foods Market, we empower our Team Members to make their own decisions, thus creating an environment where people are treated with respect and are highly motivated to excel.   We mentor Team Members through education and on-the-job experience.
