SQL Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database /System Administrator to plan, deploy, and support DMX’s database and system activities. The Database/ System Administrator is responsible for understanding the processes and architecture of DMX’s databases and related systems, as well as database administration, operational maintenance, testing, upgrades, and database query support for internal customers.

 

Responsibilities Includes:Data retrieval, insertion, updating and deleting data in SQL databases.Day to day database operations and problem resolution as required for production, test and development databases.Creation of new databases.  SQL replication administration.  Provide application performance monitoring, tuning and optimization tactics.Perform required database maintenance, including management of database backups and recovery infrastructure.Work with IT and end users to ensure smooth production upgrades. Create stored procedures and quality check stored procedure changes checked in by software developers.  Work as part of a project team to participate in database design spec review and coordination of database development. Provide production on-call support. Manage and perform system upgrades. Other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.

Qualified candidates will have 2+ years experience in the following:DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server Ability to interpret SQL data models and to develop database structures Ability to use standard diagramming techniques to design and develop computer data models Configuration, management, and maintenance of complex relational databases Stored Procedure authoring Ability to develop and manipulate large, complex data sets Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques Technical writing skills Ability to provide technical guidance to support staff Ability to install, maintain, modify, and upgrade SQL database software. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise Ability to operate autonomously with general supervision Ability to create complex SQL queries. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Desirable Skills, attributes and preferencesBachelor’s degree in a related field or 4 years equivalent experience Experience with and working knowledge of SQL Server replication Ability to perform acceptance testing on computer systems, applications, and hardware Experience with ERP systems and system integration Experience with digital media distribution Experience with FTP Experience with VB6, .NET, C#, ASPExperience with IIS Experience with SQL Server 7 and 2005
