Sr. Staff Accountant

Are you an experienced Staff Accountant seeking a highly visible opportunity with a growing public company? Widmer Brothers Brewing Company, Inc. in Portland, OR is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team to be an important contributor as we prepare for the merger of the Widmer and Redhook Breweries later in the year.  The Staff Accountant role reports to our Controller and will play a critical role in the Accounting department’s operation.

 

Responsibilities include:

·  Develop and maintain the overall general ledger closing process in conjunction with the Controller.

·  Identify and implement close cycle improvements to improve accounting accuracy or reduce the time and expense of the close process.

·  Prepare and maintain documentation of accounting procedures and internal controls as an important component of our overall Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program.

·  Assist in the coordination of our quarterly and annual financial statement audit.

·  Assist with resolving questions and issues in connection with financial reporting and budgeting.

·  Manage the fixed asset accounting processes including monitoring fixed asset purchases and maintaining fixed asset and depreciation records.

 

Specific close process responsibilities may include:

·  Cash account and bank statement reconciliations

·  Physical POS inventory reconciliations

·  Sub-ledger reconciliations (Accounts receivable and Accounts Payable)

·  Prepare and post journal entries

·  Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts

·  Review of income statement detail

·  Expense accruals

·  Recurring journal entries

 

Experience & Skills needed

·  4 year accounting/finance degree required.  CPA preferred.

·  5+ years of relevant public accounting experience including financial statement preparation and closings.

·  Previous MAS500 and FAS software experience desirable.

·  Must have a positive attitude and be able to work independently.

·  Must be able to communicate and interact well with management and other employees

·  Must be organized and pay attention to detail.

·  Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

·  Possess a full range of Finance and Accounting understanding, including but not limited to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger fixed assets, financial reporting, analysis and forecasting.
