Staff Accountants

Benihana Inc., a publicly traded restaurant company headquartered in the Doral area of Miami-Dade, seeks Staff Accountants. The essential function of this position is to maintain accounting records. This is a responsible non-supervisory position. Works under the supervision of a Staff Supervisor.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Monitors receipt of weekly package from assigned restaurants, and performs timely follow-ups.

 

Examines weekly accounts payable invoices and processes each as required (i.e., new vendor, approval code, etc.).

 

Makes corrections to accounts payable data already in system for assigned locations.

 

Reviews daily sales and supporting documentation for completeness and correctness on a weekly basis.

 

Gathers information required and prepares necessary returns for processing sales tax payments and liquor tax payments, if applicable.

 

Prepares adjusting journal entries as needed.

 

Prepares periodic P&L’s for assigned locations for review.

 

Prepares bank reconciliations, credit card analysis, and other analyses for assigned stores each period.

 

Prepare periodic reports and payment requests, if required, to the assigned locations’ landlords on a timely basis as dictated by the location’s corresponding lease.

 

Reconciles quarterly payroll tax information.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Must have a BA in Accounting or Business Administration with concentration in Accounting or be in active pursuit of such degree, from an accredited university.

 

At least one (1) year’s experience in accounting (directly related business school or college courses may be substituted for experience) or

 

Knowledge of accounting theories and practices (US GAAP) and accepted office procedures.

 

Knowledge of technical skills in accounting and finance. Must have strong MS Excel and experience with accounting software, preferably Oracle or similar.

 

Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
