Application Database Administrator

The Database Systems Administrator will report to the Director of IT within the Information Systems Department of the Company, and will be a critical member of the company's IT support team.  Primary interaction will be between the eBusiness application team and Unix/SAN Administrators to provide effective coverage of services. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background around data management, data high-availability, and data tuning.  The candidate will ideally have migrated from an applications development, to systems / database administration, supporting critical business applications in e-commerce, ERP/MRP, data warehousing with a critical eye towards performance and uptime requirements.   Primary responsibilities include: • Ensuring backup and recovery of databases from offline mechanisms. • Resolving database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. • Monitoring database statistics: o Recommend tuning corrective actions to improve database system performance. o Recommend capacity requirements to support future growth of databases. • Administering, maintaining and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company database.  Utilize and applying Oracle Support/Metalink for latest security patches and best practices. • Providing database development and design support to development projects such as Oracle ERP, point-of-sale, Data warehouses and websites.  Provide input in data model and database design discussions for custom development projects. • Assist in management of database instances and provide effective transition services between development, test and production environments via database cloning, using export/import utilities. • Strong interpersonal interaction within Systems to provide value to requests for information. • Maintain a strong IT Operations presence on the Change Management Team for code control. • Make recommendations on database products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts. Secondary Responsibilities include: • Assist in management of database instances and provide effective transition services between development, test and production environments. • Administration of backup and disaster recovery software using CommVault • Monitoring of database systems’ effectiveness and providing corrective actions to improve efficiency. • Assisting in deployment of web environments and application using, HTML, VB Script, ASP,.Net, JSP, EJBs, Perl, Java. • 3-5 years experience of database administration in Solaris Oracle environments • 2+ years experience in Oracle eBusiness and data warehousing application administration. • Several years experience in Unix and NT system and database administration in client-server environment. • 3+ years of hands-on experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures with database tuning and troubleshooting.  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts, with a passion for detail. • Excellent organization, communication, writing and interpersonal skills. • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.  Oracle Certification a strong plus.   "TTI Floor Care North America Inc. is an equal opportunity employer" About Us TTI Floor Care North America was established in February of 2007.
