ART CONSULTANT JOB DESCRIPTION

 

FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Art Consultant at Wally Findlay Galleries, you are responsible to the Gallery Director and/or Assistant Gallery Director for the day-to-day operations of the gallery.

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE

 

-   Acknowledge every customer that enters the gallery;

 

-   Project a helpful and caring image;

 

-   Treat customers with courtesy and respect;

 

-   Project an enthusiastic and hospitable demeanor;

 

-   Ask questions to determine customers' needs; accommodate every request;

 

-   Process all transactions in a quick and efficient manner;

 

-   Appreciate each customer not only for each purchase but also for visiting the gallery;

 

All Art Consultants will be required to work as Receptionists whenever necessary.  As a Receptionist your functions and responsibilities parallel those of a sales associate with the following additions:

 

-          Welcome all guests, direct them into the gallery, offer assistance and page an Art Consultant;

 

-          Control and direct phone calls, page Gallery personnel, Art Consultants etc;

 

-          Direct faxes, facilitate copies and assist in general clerical and office management;

 

 

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT/CONTROLS

 

-          Ensure paintings are stocked in correct bins;

 

-          Ensure frames are kept free from damage when storing;

 

-          Stock catalogs in library in an appropriate manner;

 

      -     Ensure point of sale accuracy when writing up sales;

 

 

HANGING/VISUAL PRESENTATION

 

-   Maintain gallery hanging according to company standards;

 

-   Maintain appropriate stock levels and neat presentation standards for customer view;

 

-   Ensure adequate supply of catalogs are available for customers.

 

 

STORE/BACK OFFICE APPREARANCE ORGANIZATION

 

-   Maintain gallery interior clean and free of debris;

 

-   Maintain organization standards for stockroom, bins and libraries (where applicable).

 

YOUR IMAGE

 

-   Maintain proper company representation in all dealings with the public

 

-   Follow dress code specs as detailed in attire guidelines;

 

-   Project a neat and clean, professional image;

 

-   Strive to maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity.

 

COMMUNICATION

 

-   Communicate problems with product quality to Gallery Director or Assistant Gallery Director;

 

-   Interface with Gallery Director and Assistant Gallery Director;

 

-   Attend Gallery staff meetings;

 

-   Attend Gallery training clinics;

 

-   Read and maintain staff logbook.

 

ADHERENCE TO ALL POLICIES

 

-   Abide by all policies related to job;

 

-   Stay abreast of all policy changes;

 

-   Maintain proper control of media throughout the shift;

 

-   Comply with all company loss prevention procedures.

 

 

ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES NOT SPECIFIED IN THIS JOB DESCRIPTION MAY BE ASSIGNED BY THE GALLERY DIRECTOR, ASSISTANT GALLERY DIRECTOR OR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

-   Minimum five years retail experience with exposure to Customer Service practices.

 

Demonstrated understanding and application of basic mathematical principles i.e., addition, subtraction and multiplication.


 

-   Ability to perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, stooping and reaching.

 

-   Ability to perform duties which require standing and exerting fast paced mobility within a confined area for periods up to (8) hours or longer, if needed.

 

-   Ability to effectively communicate with all guests and staff in confined conditions.

 

-   Ability to manipulate and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.
