Position Description:
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:The Scholastic Store Online is seeking an Assistant Buyer for a growing eCommerce division of eScholastic. This individual will work on assortment planning and merchandising, analyzing sales and other key reports, creating / maintaining purchase orders as well as corresponding with vendors. The ideal candidate will have strong retail math, analytical, and communication skills. A successful candidate may have the opportunity to assume buying responsibility once their proficiency level has been demonstrated.ABOUT THE DIVISION:e-Scholastic is a strategic business unit of Scholastic Inc. designed to maximize the potential of the Internet as a new and significant channel of distribution, and electronically enable the global enterprise’s core businesses. The division partners with business units and staff groups around the company to generate profitable revenues online, cost savings, and direct and personalized relationships with customers, employees, and suppliers. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist Merchandise Manager and Buyer in planning and fulfillment of merchandise assortments.Track and analyze sales information as directed.Item entry and maintenance of product attributes and database.Tracking of PO’s including delays, short ship, adjustments, credits, etc.Perform various inventory, COGS and gross margin analysis.Pull or schedule reports on data when needed to monitor sales, inventory and turn.Work with internal teams and vendors to secure product assets such as copy, images and samples.Maintain vendor relations/communications daily.Request, track, maintain and process all product samples.Coordinate monthly data imports for large product introductions in the stores including researching in and adding information from the AS400 and/or Epic.Input merchandising data including price changes through the eCommerce tools when needed and maintain data integrity of store information.Write and process purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of vendor goods.Track and verify receipts against purchases.Liaison with fulfillment warehouse.Troubleshoot and correct misinformation and/or add missing merchandising content as conveyed by category business owners, situation reports or customer service notifications.
