Associate Buyer - Apparel Buying Experience Required

Job Status: Full Time, Employee Work Experience: 2+ to 5 Years Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Minimum Education: High School or equivalent Associate Buyer - Apparel Buying Experience Required SUMMARY:   The Associate Buyer takes ownership of a portion of the Buyer’s overall business and manages the processes to achieve sales, margin and inventory turnover. Assists the Buyer in execution of processes and functions for the Buyer’s merchandise area.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Research market to find new trends in category Approve garment fit and ensure product execution meets the design aesthetic as well as commercially acceptable quality standards Forecast and track sales, gross margin and inventory levels Analyze actual sales to plan Vendor negotiations relating to price, terms and delivery dates Prepare history and merchandise plans for Buyer in time for product presentations Approve ranking of all styles within the division based on historical and current product performance, as well as marketplace information 3+ years of related buying experience in contemporary fashion Must possess strong analytical skills including understanding all aspects of retail math, the open-to-buy process and all aspects of the business that effects the gross margin Must possess strong product development skills, be able to identify trends and executive them into high standard quality product Must understand the process of building a strong well-balanced assortment Must be a strong negotiator and have the ability to negotiate the best price possible EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience     GOOD TO KNOW: The Wet Seal, Inc. offers a competitive salary, excellent bonus plan, great benefits, a generous discount and more! It’s a great place to shop and a great place to work!   QUALIFIED CANDIDATES ONLY should apply to: recruiters@wetseal.com   List “Associate Buyer” in the subject line   APPLY NOW
