Purpose: The Analytics and Optimization Sciences (AOS) team utilizes their data analysis, statistics, and optimization sciences skills to increase the sales and profit of Target Corporation by providing world class actionable insights, championing analytical best practices, and delivering end-user analytical tools.As an AOS Data Analyst, your primary responsibilities will be to: work with AOS team leads to understand business objectives and corresponding analysis and/or development plans, execute the analysis plan and/or development plan, and present with final analytical results and/or implement production level reporting solutions. You will be expected to work with data analysis and reporting tools to support project objectives. See Yourself: Working with AOS Project Leads to understand business requirements and analysis plans. Executing the full development lifecycle of a reporting project. Duties include requirement gathering, design, construction, testing, implementation, project tracking and training of effective reporting solutions. Working with AOS Project Leads to summarize, synthesize, and present final project results. Ensuring strong client service and satisfaction (and minimize problems and concerns) through pro-active communication of progress against project timelines. Performing report construction and data analysis to support business needs. Types of analysis include: customer segmentation, marketing campaign performance, test/control design, operational support, trending and planning. Interfacing with Target business users, AOS team members, Target India AOS team members, Target Technology Services (TTS) and TTS partners to resolve issues concerning the execution of reporting and BI projects. Participating in walk-thrus, reviews, and inspections of project deliverables. Interfacing with the Target business clients to present intermediate and final reporting or analytical results. For each project, completely documenting all portions of the project that you are responsible for and/or accountable for. Working under deadlines and be flexible with changing priorities. Strong "Team" orientation with a desire and ability to work closely with others. Other duties and projects as assigned.Job Requirements:Minimum Requirements: Very good verbal communications skills with peers and management team Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills with respect to data 1+ years experience building end user reporting tools along with experience in data analysis 1+ years database skills, specifically, experience with SQL B.S. in a technical field (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science) or equivalent work experience Very good written skills Ability to work successfully in a team environment Dependable, pro-active, flexible and openness to learn Accustomed to working in an environment requiring multi-tasking and changing project prioritiesDesired Requirements: 2+ years experience performing marketing, merchandising, and/or financial analysis in a multi-channel (big-box) retail environment Experience creating reporting tools using WebFOCUS Developers Studio/WebFOCUS MRE (version 7.14) Experience creating GUI interface tools with good understanding of HTML and JavaScript M.S. in Mathematical Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science (or equivalent) Data Warehousing experience (relational data modeling) Report development and Deployment on a large scale (50+ users) (ad hoc query tools, ad hoc reporting tools, multi-dimensional analysis/OLAP) Knowledge of retail functions that support guest relationship management functions in a multi-channel retail store environment such as Target.
