Buyer - Indirect Procurement

We are looking for energetic, experienced Buyers to join a newly forming indirect Procurement organization within Express. Major spend categories include marketing, store supplies, IT (hardware and software), and miscellaneous home office items such as supplies. Main job responsibilities include the following:

• Maintain operational focus with emphasis on customer service and day-to-day resolution.
• Lead project efforts through sourcing with supplier selection, price negotiation, and bid evaluation processes.
• Provide expertise in processes and systems; contribute to the development and implementation of procurement processes and systems including documentation; optimize requisition-to-payment processes and information systems based upon business news, performance, and strategic objectives.
• Provide input and data analysis on spend management to aid in strategy development. Execute sourcing strategies to meet or exceed individual savings objectives.
• Contribute to procurement’s strategic direction via process improvement efforts.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external business partners.
• Evaluate and measure supplier performance.
• Maintain positive relationship with suppliers and visit vendor sites as appropriate.
• Effectively communicate oral and written resolution of issues with all internal and external partners.
• Maintain proficiency in all relevant policies and procedures, including the ability to articulate and enforce policies and procedures.
• Coordinate requirements, specifications, timing, distribution and other matters between internal customers and suppliers.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Finance, Accounting, Business or Supply Chain or equivalent experience
• 2-3 years of experience in Procurement or a related field
• Certified Purchasing Manager accreditation preferred.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships of trust and credibility with internal customers that lead to stronger buy-in and commitment within customer groups
• Ability to effectively respond to and follow through on commitments – consistently meets or exceeds commitments with a focus on quick turnaround
• Proven track record and reputation for achieving results through an emphasis on detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to influence others by presenting recommendations based on customer and cross-functional knowledge
• Organized and able to prioritize and monitor progress of work against plan as required to meet objectives
• Ability to analyze situations and solve problems
• Ability to handle multiple projects effectively
• Strong attention to detail
• Proficient in MS office including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
