Job Description: The Buyer is responsible for leading the assigned team in recognizing current trends and developing corresponding initiatives to create and fulfill these demands. This individual works closely with the DMM and key business partners to develop and maintain close relationships with vendors and stores. This position reports to the DMM. Develops product including sourcing and monitoring delivery of product and quality control.  Analyzes and negotiates proposals for product based on trend, price, delivery time and quality, and subsequently selects the most appropriate vendors.  Regularly attends concerts and fashion events to remain keen on current trends – fashion, music, culture, and other innovations regarding music/fashion.  Consistently evaluates fashion trends in the target industry and identify demands and potential products to fill those niches.  Develop and maintain close relationships with Stores, Vendors, Distribution Center, and the Planning and Allocation division.  Confronts and addresses performance issues or conflicts timely and consistently.  Achieves sales and margin objectives for seasonal buying plans.  Develops business strategies to outline strengths, weaknesses, new opportunities and threats in the fashion market.  Strategically selects and purchases product from vendor lines to augment planned assortments based on trend data.  Recognizes potential opportunities and inquires and researches product feasibility.  Performs market analysis to define and assess current trends.  Performs other job duties as needed. Job Requirements: Associates or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.  A proven track record developing and building the fashion apparel business, including developing and maintaining strong apparel vendor relationships.  At least 3-5 years progressive experience as a Buyer. Previous product development experience.  Experience developing, preparing and implementing tactical plans in support of strategic company goals.  Has knowledge of contemporary junior customer.  Practical and theoretical knowledge of specifications and fabrication requirements.  Exceptional computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.  Strong communication skills including ability to work in a team environment, give honest, direct feedback and is a solid verbal and written communicator.
