Position:  Buyer

Department:Merchandising

Objective:
Financially responsible for a portion of the company’s business.  This includes sales and margin dollar plans.

 

Key Responsibilities:Knowledge and understanding of vendor contacts; follow up and through on same.Project the current and future month’s business based on sales, receipts and current inventory. Works with financial director to plan and project the business.Identifying key items and maximizing the business.Identify and react quickly to key items, trends and slow sellers.Create formula-based spreadsheets on Excel to analyze the business.Advertising:  decides on items to be advertised, cost prices, selling prices, and negotiates co-op.Prepares assortments for market trips.  Updates after trip.Monthly meetings with Allocation to review incoming assortments.Work with planning and allocations to resolve store inventory issues.Work with merchandise assistant to follow up on incoming shipments and update office with changes.Train assistants for the next level.Make decisions and take action on short notice.Attend all required training as scheduled.Maintain appropriate standards of business and perform business functions effectively while under pressure to reach goals.
