Commercial Dispatcher

Position Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to direct all delivery activity to and from specific destinations, including CSK locations, local warehouse distributors, distribution centers, and customer’s places of business. The Dispatcher directs the activities of commercial drivers and the maintenance of company vehicles.

Qualifications:

May be asked to serve customers in a professional, courteous and timely manner. Greets each customer, responds to the customer’s needs, expedites sales transactions, asks customers what else they need, and thanks each customer. Attends all required training classes including New Associate Orientation (NAO), Automotive Electronics (A/E), Customer Awareness, Service, and Sales (CASS), and Commercial Accounts Management Program (CAMP) if their store is serviced by a training center. Completes certification in Associate Development Program Modules 1-10 and Earn While You Learn EL401. Directs, encourages and reinforces the practice of safe driving skills. In coordination with the Commercial Manager, plans and establishes the drivers’ work schedule to ensure adequate personnel coverage to meet delivery needs. Ensures that deliveries are made promptly and within an acceptable time frame (usually within 45 minutes). Coordinates the activities of the store’s Delivery Drivers, stages delivery orders, and inspects orders to ensure completeness prior to delivery. Establishes delivery routes and maintains documentation for each route or “hot shot” delivery. Ensures that vehicles are maintained as needed according to company guidelines, including scheduling and following through on necessary repairs. Inspects vehicles daily to ensure that maintenance, safety and appearance specifications are met and the accident kit, registration and insurance documents are in the vehicle and are current. Maintains a driver’s status log. Ensures that associates are trained on accident procedures, and that all traffic accidents, and/or vehicle damages are reported properly. Implements proper safety and security measures, according to policy. May be required to act as a backup Delivery Driver. May be required to load or unload freight trucks. All loading and unloading duties require the use of proper safety equipment such as back belt, safety knife, hand-truck, and pallet jack, and the appropriate safety precautions to prevent injury. Maintains store security by observing the actions of all individuals in the store and reporting any suspicious behavior to store management. Properly handles returns according to store procedures. Performs the essential job functions of other positions within the store, as necessary and appropriate including assisting the retail personnel with customer service, and recover as time allows.
