The Corporate Accounting Manager is reponsible for providing service and support to Follett Corporation and its operating divisions, maintaining financial records for Management Services, and ensuring that accurate and timely financial information is available for the corporation and its operating divisions and subsidiaries.
Enterprise Responsibilities: Maintains and monitors a department closing schedule.Maintains and monitors monthly and year-end closing schedules for the consolidated Follett Corporation. Works closely with the Controller in the development and implementation of the accounting policies of the company.Maintains a current Corporate Accounting policy manual. Ensures the accuracy of the monthly and year-end consolidation journal entries. Ensures the accurate completion of reconciliations of accounts.Reviews the adequacy and accuracy of reserves and estimates on a quarterly basis.Performs technical accounting research as required to ensure Follett's compliance with GAAP.Coordinates the strategic plan, annual budget and quarterly forecasts for Management Services and other non operating entities.Selects, manages, mentors, and coaches accounting team.Completes all corporate-wide financial reporting requirements for Management Services and other non-operating entities.Ensures that the department conducts business in accordance with Follett Values, Code of Conduct, Internal Control Policy, and other covered policies and uses ethical and sound business principles which help ensure the long-term financial security and success of the company. Operating Unit Specific Responsibilities: Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of direct charges and prorate allocations.Ensures the completeness and accuracy of intercompany account activity.Coordinates payroll journal entries and issues between the operating units and the payroll service. Reviews each operating unit's financial statements and trial balances on a monthly basis to identify unusual items or variances which impact Management Services and the consolidated results.Directs the execution of the companies internal control policy for management services.
This position requires an individual with demonstrated leadership abilities, strong business acumen, quality decision making ability, executive presence and demeanor, customer focus, action orientation, and strong ethics and values. Additionally, the Corporate Accounting Manager will have a track record indicative of the ability to motivate, deal with ambiguity, organize, plan, set priorities, negotiate, and so on.
