We currently have an opening for a Database Administrator.  This position is responsible for the day-to-day support and administration of a large, dynamic Data Warehouse environment. The applicant will work closely with IS&S users, applications, and technical staff.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

· Support of large-scale EEE/DPF environments.

· Work with Vendors on problem resolution, upgrades and new product installs.

· Assist with creation and setup of UDB Instances and databases.

· Follow Standards and document UDB database environments.

· Administer processes for performance tuning of databases.

· Administer processes for capacity planning.

· Provide proactive performance monitoring of databases ensuring service levels are met.

· Administrate change control of physical data structure for all environments.

· Administer backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures for databases. 

· Create physical data structures from either vendor supplied data base design or custom data base design for all environments.

· Provide primary and backup support for UDB databases.

· Provide 7 x 24 on-call support on a rotating basis for UDB databases.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

· Database administration experience. UDB EEE/DPF is a plus.

· Bachelor of Science degree in a data processing related field or relevant job experience.

· Must have excellent communication skills demonstrating written and interpersonal abilities.

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

· Familiarity with Fixpack installs and client connectivity is a plus.

· Experience with upgrades of UDB databases is a plus.

· Knowledge of UDB utilities and Tivoli’s Storage Manager is a plus.

· Experience with Korn-shell scripting is a plus.

· Experience with UDB Data Replication, Tivoli Work Scheduler, BMC Patrol, and BMC Change Manager a plus.
