Deli/ Bakery Clerk

Deli/Bakery Clerk Essential Job Functions: The Deli/Bakery Clerk is responsible for preparing bakery and deli items and maintaining and organizing the deli and bakery display and sales cases. Child labor laws require that the individual be at least 18 years of age in order to operate the power equipment used in this position. Environment: The worker is exposed to hot temperatures when baking in the oven and cooking chicken. The worker is also exposed to temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees in the freezer and refrigerator storage areas.Requirements: Technical Requirements:? The ability to greet customers and respond to their questions and requests in a courteous and helpful manner.? The ability to process incoming product. This includes receiving product, breaking down product and storing product in the cooler and freezer.? The ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions on a daily set-up sheet.? The ability to prepare foods for the hot food case, prepare bakery goods and maintain the deli cases. This includes retrieving product from storage, cooking product according to company policy, packaging and displaying the product and sanitizing the work and serving areas.? The ability to operate a slicer and a scale. Deli meats, cheeses and salads must be prepared per customer request and the product must be weighed, wrapped, labeled and transferred to the customer. Handling Product: ? Lifting containers of deli and bakery products that weigh up to 75 pounds several times per week. ? Lifting products that weigh up to 50 pounds on an hourly basis. ? Carrying these same products from pallets to U-boats and then to storage areas or processing tables.? Handling products with heights ranging from 5 to 72 inches.? Reaching product located within a 20 inch reach in front of the worker continually when processing deli and bakery products.? Reaching product located up to a 36 inch reach in front of the worker several times per hour when processing. Other Requirements:? The ability to operate a cardboard baler and trash compactor?
