Director E-Commerce 

 The Sr. Manager E-commerce Development’s role is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget for the company’s retail e-commerce Web sites, services, and applications. This includes the development of e-commerce applications and e-business strategies for leveraging organizational procedures and processes via the Internet. Responsibilities includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.  This individual is also responsible for working closely with business E-commerce development staff to ensure the design, implementation, and administration of the company’s Web portfolio. Understanding of a variety of Web development languages is required.

 Responsibilities

 

Strategy & Planning

·         Prepare a long-term plan for e-business development and presence, including standards, procedures, and guidelines, based on business goals and input from stakeholders.

·         Conduct research into current and emerging Web technologies and issues in support of e-business/e-commerce efforts.

·         Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

·         Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

·         Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.

·         Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.




Operational Management

·         Strong Project Management process and methodology.

·         Coordinate e-commerce Web site development.

·         Integrate B2C workflow processes with Web-based applications, including billing, shipping, inventory, and order fulfillment.

·         Develop and launch transaction-based commerce applications via the organization’s Web portfolio.

·         Manage Web development staff and software designers to create graphical user interfaces, Web forms, and so on for company sites.

·         Set and enforce compatibility and interoperability standards that ensure site accessibility for customers.

·         Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.

·         Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.

·         Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.

·         Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.

·         Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.

·         Track project milestones and deliverables using defined methods and tools.

·         Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.

·         Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

·         Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

·         Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.

·         Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

·         Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of the project.

 

 Position Requirements

 

Formal Education & Certification

·         College diploma or university degree in the field of business, computer science and/or 8 years equivalent work experience.

·         Certifications in PMI a plus.

 

Knowledge & Experience

·         Experience with at least medium sized retail e-commerce sites with minimum of $10 million of annual revenue.

·         Excellent understanding of IT/Web infrastructure, communications, marketing, and customer service principles.

·         Hands-on experience with software design practices, relational databases, and data-driven Web applications.

·         Strong understanding of other Internet programming languages and graphics design programs, including Java, Linux, etc.

·         Working knowledge of Web authoring, protocols, development, and publishing tools, including HTML, Web 2.0, Photoshop, DreamWeaver, etc.

·         Knowledge of human-to-computer interaction and graphical user interface design.

·         Experience in gathering, analyzing, and meeting business requirements.

·         Sensitivity to browser compatibility issues.

·         Extensive understanding of project management principles.

·         Excellent knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

·         Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies.

·         Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
