PurposeAs a Fabric Specialist, youll coordinate research and development processes for all seasonal fabrics, providing technical fabric assistance to Designers and Buyers in support of product development.See Yourself:Creating seasonal fabric trend presentations to share with design and merchants Coordinating directly with overseas fabric team and/or vendors to research fabrics Meeting regularly with fabric sourcing, design and buyers to stay current on most recent fabric sourcing directions Consulting and advising design on their selection of fabrics to be researched or developed Providing follow-up coordination from the Textile Expo to the design and buying teams Coordinating visits by mill reps to display new fabrics and finishes to design and buyers Researching existing fabric tables and library to identify potential fabrics for new seasons, as requested by design Attending key meetings/fabric fairs/expos to identify potential fabric for new seasons, as requested by design Providing technical fabric consultation to design, and initiating development of new concept fabrics when existing fabrics do not meet objectives Working with fabric sourcing and mill resources to modify existing fabrics for newly-desired attributes, when necessary, to meet design objectives Evaluating completed sample fabrics for weight, construction and finish, when requested Coordinating development of new fabric finish effects with vendors and overseas fabric team Attending key merchandising and design milestone meetings to advise on fabric development Ensuring all fabrics developed meet design objectives, price requirements and quality standards Directing the development of desired fabric finishes and hand standards Evaluating inspirational developmental samples by analyzing weight and construction measurements Surfacing cross-divisional fabrications for consistency and common construction Job RequirementsMinimum Requirements:4-year college degree in Textiles or equivalent work experience A minimum of two years of experience in textile manufacturing or development Proficient in development of fabric and garment washes as well as technical fabrics Experience with both Design and Mill/Vendor development for fabrics Strong trouble shooting and problem-solving abilities Organizational and strategic skills Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills Meeting facilitation skills Complete understanding of the technical and manufacturing side of product development Strong production skills (fiber, yarn manufacturing, fabric construction, finishing, costing, planning, etc.) Computer literate, understanding of Excel, PowerPoint, Access, database management, e-mail based communication Excellent negotiation skills Ability to establish rapport quickly with internal and external peopleSee The Rewards Eligible team members will receive one of the best earnings packages anywhere, including competitive pay, all-around insurance coverage, 401(k), flexible scheduling, training and development and many other perks and benefits.
