Field Talent & Organizational Development Manager
POSITION GOAL: The primary goal of this position will be to assist field management in maintaining excellence in the selection, training, management, performance and retention of its store and multi-unit management staffs.
SUMMARY: This position will act as an extension of the Corporate Human Resource Department for the field organization, under day-to-day guidance from the VP of Field HR, and the VP of Store Operations. Strong emphasis on Recruiting support to VP’s of Stores and Regional Directors. The major responsibilities for this position will center in these key areas:
· Providing strategic, proactive support to VP of Stores and RD’s in the areas of Multi-Unit Management recruiting and providing additional support, expertise and resources to District Managers for Store Manager recruiting.
· Providing ongoing training for multi-unit managers and store managers in staff management skills, including recruiting, interviewing, training, performance management, employment law and employee relations.
· Assisting Regional Directors and District Managers in resolving employee relations matters.
· Auditing consistency in administration of and compliance with company human resource management policies and directives, as well compliance with federal state and local employment and Wage/Hour statutes.
· Additional projects may be assigned to this position to assist the Store Operations group in other areas of human resource management, as deemed necessary by the VP of Stores and the DVP of Field Human Resources.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist field management with employee relations issues, including the approval of employee terminations or recommendations for appropriate corrective action
· Ensure that stores remain in compliance with federal, state and municipal employment laws and reporting requirements, as well as Company policies and procedures
· Assist division in adapting to changes in company HR procedures and/or local, state and federal regulation changes
· Interpret and answer human resources policy and procedure questions from associates and field management
· Review Field Turnover Reports and Successions Plans with FVPs/RDs on a regular basis
· Identify potential Region and District hiring needs monthly, quarterly and annually
· Work with VP of Stores and RD’s to develop specific strategies to support hiring needs on an ongoing basis.
· Conduct interviews and phone screens of multi-unit management candidates
· Coordinate candidate interviews for VP and/or RD
· Coordinate job fairs, college recruiting and community-based organization relationships within assigned division
· Coordinate proactive training sessions in the field for multi-unit managers and store managers on interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, safety, sexual harassment and other key areas.
· Coordinate employee surveys, exit interviews, and turnover data to identify training needs and improve retention.
· Assist Corporate HR in coordinating responses to EEOC/DOL charges, litigations and inquiries
· Conduct timely investigations related to all areas of HR (discrimination, harassment, wage & hour issues, etc.)
· Review divisional compliance with annual Performance Review Process to ensure effectiveness and equity.
· Travel to stores and with division multi-unit managers on a regular basis. Proactively implement initiatives and strategies to address personnel-related concerns identified
· Conduct random HR audits in stores and ensure that stores are in compliance on all HR-related company guidelines and policies, in addition to being in compliance with all state, federal and company regulations.
· Assist Regional LP Managers, as necessary, with associated investigations
· Assist DVP of Field HR, VP of Stores and RDs as necessary with special HR-related projects
· Attend Regional/District meetings and facilitate appropriate HR-related training sessions

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS/ABILITIES
· Accurate typing and data entry skills.
· Ability to maintain an aggressive travel schedule as needed.

· Work extended hours, as required, especially during the winter holiday season and other busy periods.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· 4-Year college degree in Human Resource Management or related field preferred.
· 3-5 Years previous HR Generalist experience, preferably in a multi-unit retail environment.
· Full knowledge of general HR including employee relations, recruiting, benefits, employment law, training and compensation.
· Working knowledge of common HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, PeopleSoft, Ulti-Pro, etc.).
· Proficiency in common business productivity applications including MSWord, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
· Excellent group presentation/facilitation skills.
