Purpose: As a Food Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting a broad array of packaging projects from identifying new package ideas and working w/vendors to addressing quality opportunities to improve the structural package performance. You will work with the Senior Packaging Engineer to translate business and technical product requirements for both new and existing products into well defined direction and guidance for the product or packaging vendor. See Yourself: Evaluating and at times developing structural packaging designs and materials to ensure they provide the barrier protection required to ensure the integrity, i.e., quality and safety of the product contents including shipping integrity throughout the distribution chain Managing the development, review and approval of specifications for packaging structure and materials Participating in the development and evaluation of innovative packaging designs and materials, including conducting consumer testing Supporting efforts in product lifecycle management programs to address the on-going quality, performance and cost, i.e., maintenance, of packaging in the marketplace; including conducting marketplace quality audits Serving as principal contact in working directly with product vendors to provide technical direction and guidance and to solve problems and ensure effective corrective actions Serving as a principal resource to ensure technical regulatory compliance of packaging materials Developing and maintaining strong internal and external contacts in the professional packaging communityJob Requirements:Minimum Requirements: B.S. in Packaging Engineering, Material Science or related field Minimum 5 years experience with branded consumer food packaging development, commercialization and maintenance Breadth of technical experience gained across multiple food product and packaging categories Strong technical knowledge of food packaging materials, regulations and manufacturing Demonstrated project management skills Strong communication, presentation and computer skills Team player with ability to interact with all levels of the organization Proactive problem solving skills and abilities Effective influence and negotiation skills Ability to research and apply market/trend informationSee The Rewards Eligible team members will receive one of the best earnings packages anywhere, including competitive pay, all-around insurance coverage, 401(k), flexible scheduling, training and development and many other perks and benefits.
